Allison’s Helpful  Hints For Other Things

*
Replace a regular flat vacuum cleaner belt once a year. It stretches out to cause the vacuum cleaner not to operate as efficiently. Over years without changing the belt, the roller brush, or beater bar, will be stressed and wear out more quickly. A new belt is cheaper than a new roller brush.

Don’t wait until the vacuum bag is stuffed full to the top. It puts a lot of strain on the motor and affects suction. Replace the bag whenever it is ½ full, or if the contents are very heavy and compact. Dirt cup vacuum cleaners should be dumped after each use; use the Eliminator spray to clean out the cup which will help kill the remaining bacteria, dust mites, and other nasty things.

Fleas can breed in a vacuum cleaner bag or plastic dirt cup.  Purchase a flea collar for a large dog; remove the metal piece and cut into 1½ to 2 inch pieces.  Place 2 or 3 pieces into a new paper bag.  For dirt cups, put 1 piece into the cup as the dirt cup should be emptied after each use.  The heat from the vacuum motor will activate the ingredients in the flea collar to aid in destroying the pests and their eggs.
